Volunteer with mechanical skills needed in Haiti
MBF is seeking a volunteer with mechanical skills and some experience in working in another culture to help in the restoring of medical facilities in Leogane, Haiti.
Both Hospital Ste. Croix and the FSIL School of Nursing sustained varying degrees of damage in the earthquake, with the hospital needing the most structural repair. Construction has begun on a new modular unit on the nursing school grounds, while at the hospital damaged areas are being demolished or repaired.
Dick Stuber, a veteran of many volunteer trips to Haiti, has been using his mechanical skills in a variety of ways since he arrived in Leogane on January 26. Dick will be returning home soon and a replacement is on the way. Other volunteers will be needed for rotations in the future.
Anyone interested in the possibility of volunteering should email Volunteer@mbfoundation.org
Update, March 5, 2010: We have gratefully received several applications which are currently being reviewed.
