Project C.U.R.E

A Healing Ministry

Presbyterian Church (USA) partners around the world benefit from donated medical supplies and equipment gathered and shipped to them by the Medical Benevolence Foundation (MBF). Saving lives through medical surplus has been a major point of ministry for MBF.

In 2001, Medical Benevolence Foundation entered into a partnership with the Denver headquartered, non-profit humanitarian organization, Project C.U.R.E. Their mission - to identify, solicit, collect, sort, and distribute medical surplus - and this partnership greatly enlarges MBF’s ministry and enables MBF to respond to the needs of Presbyterian-related medical facilities around the world.

The Medical Need

Despite the work of church organizations and government agencies, the majority of the population in a developing nation lives in fear of illness and death as violence, malnutrition and disease claim the lives of untold thousands. People who are ill and needy walk for miles and stand for hours waiting for medical attention. Once inside a hospital or clinic, many are turned away or sent home to die because there are no supplies, no equipment and no medicines.

MBF/Project C.U.R.E. works directly with church partners, and government leaders of the recipient countries to assess needs and to guarantee the safe and timely delivery of medical relief. When assessments are completed, a shipment is gathered, assembled, and delivered to the designated hospitals and clinics.

The MBF/Project C.U.R.E. center is located in Houston. Project C.U.R.E. has additional centers in Denver, Phoenix, and Nashville, and is expanding to other cities. From these centers 20 and 40 foot containers of medical supplies and equipment are packed and shipped to PC(USA) related medical facilities around the world.

Transforming God’s World

Every year, the American medical community discards tons of supplies and equipment because of torn cartons, over-purchased products, obsolete models, etc. Offering this surplus to people in need overseas frees warehouse space and employs resources that would otherwise be buried in landfills.

The MBF/Project C.U.R.E. partnership provides opportunities for church, community, and social groups to become involved as volunteers in helping others while building stronger relationships among themselves.

MBF/Project C.U.R.E. is helping to change the world, one life at a time. Join us in saving the lives of people - moms, dads, brothers and sisters, children and grandparents - people like you. MBF/Project C.U.R.E. is totally dependent on caring congregations and individuals that become involved. From the CEOs of large corporations to community volunteers, MBF/Project C.U.R.E. needs people to take what they have and give it to others, transforming lives through the healing presence of Jesus Christ.
